A personal trainer will offer one on one counseling and instruction to enhance performance, provide sport specific training, assist with healthy lifestyle habits, and provide motivation and support while you exercise.

Fitness Center Orientations
The Newton YMCA takes great interest in getting our new members on the right track to success to reach your fitness goals. We want to help you make exercise a habit instead of a chore and make you a part of our wellness community. All new members are encouraged to participate in a new member orientation. The orientation will consist of an introduction to our cardiovascular and Cybex equipment.
Who: Members 14 years old and older only

Fitness Evaluations
A Certified Fitness Specialist will measure heart rate, blood pressure, cardio respiratory endurance, body fat percentage, flexibility, muscular strength and endurance to make recommendations for an effective fitness program.

Body Composition Test
A Certified Fitness Specialist will use a Skinfold Caliper to measure your percentage fat and determine your target weight.

Teen Strength Training
The completion of this class will allow usage of the Fitness Center and Weight rooms for the young teen. They will learn the basics of weight training with a trainer. Basic instruction will include proper weight training form and technique, weight room safety and cardiovascular training.
Who: Youth 12 and 14 years old
When: 4-5 p.m. Wednesdays
Session I: Jan. 11-Feb. 1
Session II: Feb. 22-March 14
Fees: $25 Y Members; $50 Non-members
Women on Weights
A group oriented strength training program designed to take the intimidation out of the weight room. You will be taught proper warm up, lifting and spotting techniques, and have a training program designed for you. The program will include muscle building, toning and endurance.
Who: Ninth-grade students to adults
When: 9-10 a.m. Saturday
Session I: Jan. 21-Feb. 18
Fees: $25 Y Members; $50 Non-members
Walking Club
Enjoy the use of the indoor track at the YMCA during the winter months.
When: December-March
Fees: FREE to Y members;
$20 each month for Non-members
$55 for the entire time for Non-Members
