Newton YMCA Deep Freeze Days' events update

The Newton YMCA and City of Newton Parks Department's Deep Freeze Days is set for this weekend and there is still time to be a part of this great event.

 

The volleyball tournamnet is set for Friday night and one more team spot remains open. If you'd like to have a team in the tournament call Sarah Swanson at 792-4006. Cost is $60 per team with up to 8 players.

Newton YMCA Free Art offered in March

The Newton YMCA is offering Free Art classes at the Y from 9-9:30 a.m. March 10 and 31.

The art classes will be at the YMCA and is free thanks to a grant from Wal Mart.

Newton YMCA YMCA fitness instructor participating in FIght For Air Climb

Kickboxing instructor Tiffannie Bruce will be participating in the 2012 Fight for Air Climb for the American Lung Association.

 

This event is held annually in downtown Des Moines and will be again this year March 4. Tiffannie will be climbing the 801 Grand Building stairs with hundreds of other participants.

The Newton YMCA Sports Academy coaches have added four new events during February. Due to the popularity of the basketball, baseball and speed & agility academies, organizers have added several baseball, softball and basketball events to the Sports Academy offerings.

Newton YMCA On Your Mark! Get Set! Go! Deep Freeze 5K set for Feb. 25

The Newton YMCA & Newton Parks and Recreation are teaming together for Deep Freeze Days,-a weekend full of fun for the family.

 

The Jack Frost 5K race is just one of many of great events taking place. All proceeds from the race will benefit the Newton 4th of July Fireworks Display. Newton YMCA Lifeguarding class offered in March 30-April 1

The Newton YMCA will be offering a Lifeguarding Certification course in March. The class will meet from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 30, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, and from 1-6 p.m. Saturday, April 1.

Newton YMCA YMCA boot camp set to start Feb. 13

The Newton YMCA’s popular boot camp and rookie boot camp will begin the week of Feb. 13.

Newton YMCA Weather outside is FINALLY frightful .... come to the Y

The winter weather has finally arrived in Iowa but don't let cabin fever set in. The Newton YMCA is nice and toasty, with a fresh pot of coffee this morning. We also have all our regularly scheduled classes and the pool, hot tub, track and the rest of the facility is open.

 

Come shake off the winter chill at the Newton YMCA today. Open 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Newton YMCA Local artist plans fund raiser to support Newton YMCA

 

John Mellinger loves to draw. So much so that he often volunteers his time to draw sketches for area organizations like Dollars for Scholars. Now, Mellinger is looking to help the Newton YMCA by offering to draw people’s homes for a donation to the Y. Newton YMCA Walking Club stepping up at YMCA

For individuals looking for a warm, ice-free place to walk, the Newton YMCA is bringing back The Walking Club.
 
Individuals signing up can use the indoor track at the Y, 1701 S. Eighth Ave. E., during the winter months.
