While the fight against breast cancer is serious business, local Zumba instructors and the Newton YMCA are teaming up to have fun and raise funds for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization.
In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Newton YMCA Zumba instr
uctor Natalie Wells and Y staff are hosting the first Party In Pink Zumbathon on Friday, Oct. 7. The event, which is from 5:30-8 p.m. in the YMCA gym, will be an evening of Zumba dancing, prize drawings and fun all in an effort to raise money to research, fight and cure breast cancer.
Party In Pink Zumbathons will be occurring nationally throughout the month of October and proceeds from all Zumbathons, including the one in Newton, will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Tickets are $10 each or $15 for two tickets. Prize drawings will take place throughout the event, along with a balloon release honoring those who have been impacted by the disease. Those participating in the Zumbathon are encouraged, but not required, to wear pink to show support of fighting breast cancer.
